This portrait of a debonair young man holding a cigarette was found at a street market in Reggio-Emilia. The verso reads: A lei Signora, in segno d’affetto — which translates somewhat formally as “To your ladyship, as a sign of affection.” It is signed (though the name is difficult to read it appears to be Armando Bartolozzi) and dated 2/4/1920. Above the date is written Pontremoli, which is a small city in the Massa-Carrara province of Tuscany.
