Sean Rocha produced and directed this celebration of the great Harlem Renaissance poet Langston Hughes for a sold-out audience of 1,400 at New York’s historic Town Hall. The event was sponsored by the writers group PEN American Center, in collaboration with the Schomburg Center and QBR, and included a live jazz performance by saxophonist Joshua Redman, poetry readings by actors Ruby Dee, Ossie Davis and Avery Brooks, presentations by biographer Arnold Rampersad, poets Sonia Sanchez and Willie Perdomo, critic Margo Jefferson, and writer Paule Marshall, along with historic photographs of Langston Hughes and archive recordings of the poet reading his most famous works.
